Interlibrary Loan Services for Branch Students
Branch students have full access to ILL services through NIU. Here are some helpful tips to keep in mind when making requests:
- For each article request, it is important to choose a branch location other than the DeKalb campus so that orders can be processed quickly and efficiently.
- For each book request, it is important to choose a branch location if you intend to pick up your material at the branch library. If you plan to come to the DeKalb campus to pick up materials, you may use the default option of the DeKalb campus. For problems or questions regarding branch-area pickup, contact your branch library.

Desktop Delivery
Desktop Delivery is a service offered by the Information Delivery Services department that provides electronic copies of articles from NIU-owned journals to branch students. This service uses the same request forms discussed above, but be sure to:
- Select the correct campus
- Indicate in the Notes and special instructions field that NIU owns the material.
- Desktop Delivery generally supplies requested articles within a four- business day handling time, from the day that the request is received in the IDS office.
