Robert Asprin Papers (1946-2008)

Introduction

In the fall of 2008, Robert Lynn Asprin's heirs donated his papers to Northern Illinois University. Property rights in the collection were transferred to Northern Illinois University Libraries. Literary rights are retained by Mr. Asprin's heirs; any copyrights so stated in the materials will continue in force. Reproduction from this collection is provided at the discretion of Mr. Asprin's heirs. The materials in this collection are available for research to qualified scholars as determined by the Northern Illinois University Libraries without restrictions.

Scope and Content:

The Robert Asprin Papers consist of printed (paper-based) manuscripts of his series and novels. The Series Novels and Novels sections are organized by publication date and original date of work. Biographical Sketch:

Born in St. Johns, Michigan, Robert Asprin attended the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and served in the United States Army in the mid 1960s. He was active in the Society for Creative Anachronism under the name "Yang the Nauseating" and the Dorsai Irregulars and co-founded the Great Dark Horde in 1971. Asprin's first novel was The Cold Cash War, although he is best known for his series fantasy, such as Myth Adventures of Aahz and Skeeve, Phule’s Company, and Time Scout written with Linda Evans. He is also credited, along with second wife Lynn Abbey, as the editor of the groundbreaking Thieves’ World anthology series. His most recent collaborations are all written with Jody Lynn Nye. Bob passed away suddenly on May 22, 2008 in the midst of writing his new series Dragons.
