George C. Rexford, musician and music teacher, a son of Stillman Rexford and his wife Catharine Huggard, was born in Boston, September 27, 1819. Stillman was captain of a coasting vessel which usually ran from Boston to New Orleans. He died when George was an infant, and George's mother married again when he was three years old. He had a son, George Henry, by his first wife, and a daughter, Annie H., by his second.
